Badge case #3
I did three of these. That still startles me. When did I start doing stuff.
Well, let’s start with a little background for why I started this badge case quest. I wanted to push myself and find a way to set goals and accomplish them so that I could see measurable improvements. I came up with the idea of the badge case as a way to gamify my own journey and give myself little goals that I could pursue and prove the extent of my knowledge.
I think I’ve done that, I think I’ve leveled up and become someone who can set a goal for themselves, break down the problem and just go for it. This quest has made me more confident and a lot more focused than I used to be. So, let’s look at the individual components in the badge case:
1. AWS Solutions Architect Associate
This was the last AWS associate certificate that I had left and I love having it in my collection. Getting this certificate was great for me as far as just rounding out all of the basics of AWS go. It’s a great trip, highly recommend it.
2. Atlassian Certified Professional Jira administrator
This one was a toughie. It really was. These Atlassian certifications require a lot more of an understanding into verbal logic than other certifications. They sometimes actively try to trick you, I think. That being said, getting this badge really helped me round out my Scrum and project management knowledge and helped me confirm my expertise in Jira.
3. Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate
This badge is the first Azure associate level badge that I got. It gave me a lot of insight into Microsoft’s Active Directory offerings and server management in particular. The quintessential Azure badge is what I would call it.
4. Google Cloud Platform Data Engineer Professional
This one felt good. It legitimately did. I wanted this one more than a lot of the others. It’s something that validated the data scientist within me. It proved that I could hang in the field of data science too.
5. Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
This got me to the top of the Microsoft Azure ladder for certifications. It also taught me the approach to DevOps services that Microsoft takes: one which has quite a bit of difference from both Google Cloud and AWS.
6. Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
This one I got from a voucher which I acquired from the Microsoft Build challenge. The advanced nature of this certification kind of crept up on me, but I managed to pull it out in the end. If you want to completely prove your grasp on Azure, seek this one out.
7. Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Security Engineer
Security and Networking are in some ways my weak spots and ones that I wanted to cover up on. I’m glad that I took the effort to get this one. It was very helpful in shoring up my security knowledge.
8. Google Cloud Certified Professional Workspace Administrator
This certification helped me gain some admiration for a lot of what Systems Administrator teams do. It’s work that should have more automation potential that it does and it is critical work. This certification gave me quite a bit of perspective
So there you have it, 8 more certifications in my Pokemon badge case. I’m stopping here for now because I stopped playing Pokemon games after the Hoenn region. But this journey has been quite awesome and it wont stop just because the cases are full. This is a lifelong journey of getting more knowledge and spreading it.
